As Mexico continues to modernize its energy infrastructure and explore renewable energy sources, the challenge remains to balance affordable electricity rates with the need for sustainable and reliable energy supply.

How many kWh do you use a year?

In the calculations, we use the average annual household electricity consumption and, for business, we use 1,000,000 kWh annual consumption. More recent data are available for download. We report the prices of natural gas. For households, we show the prices on consumption of 30,000 kWh consumption per year.

How does DAC rate affect my electric bill in Mexico?

This DAC rate is significantly higher and will sharply increase your electric bill. Each region in Mexico has its own subsidy limits based on local climate conditions. For example, in the central highlands, where temperatures are mild, the limit is lower, while hotter regions like the coast allow higher usage limits.

How do you convert kWh costs to kW costs?

The $/kWh costs we report can be converted to $/kW costs simply by multiplying by the assumed 4-hour duration (e.g., a $300/kWh, 4-hour battery would have a power capacity cost of $1200/kW). To develop cost projections, storage costs were normalized to their 2024 value such that each projection started with a value of 1 in 2024.
